Nissan GT Academy

What happens when you take elite Gran Turismo gamers out of the living room and into the driving seat of Nissan Motorsport vehicles? The academy finds people who are exceptional at video games and, in a matter of months, helps turn them into professional drivers for Nissan.

Nissan GT Academy 2016 Finals

The 2016 Australian finalists of the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy were decided, following a grueling two-day competition concluding at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast in September 2016.

The initial 20 Australian finalists were put through a series of challenges including an army-style fitness test, vigorous gaming challenges on the GT Sport PlayStation game, media tests, and a motorkhana component behind the wheel of a Nissan 370Z. With points awarded across all challenges, the competition was whittled down to the Top 6.

The national final saw the country's top six gamers qualify to travel to the GT Academy International final in the United Kingdom and compete for the Nissan racing contract for the overall winner.

The 2016 Nissan PlayStation GT Academy International final was won by Mexican Johnny Guindi Hamui in a dramatic conclusion to the popular race driver talent program at the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.
